Liverpool have the difficult task of replacing Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window and club legend Steven Gerrard has given his opinion on who would be suitable for the job.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has named Bayern Munich stars Michael Olise and Luis Diaz as ideal replacements for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is set to leave Liverpool after nine years with the club, with the club scouring the market for options ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.
Salah has scored 255 goals for Liverpool and will go down in history as one of the club’s best ever players. Despite his lackluster form this season, his departure will leave a huge gap in Arne Slott’s team.
Liverpool spent £320m last summer on reinforcements to their attack line, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, but now they realize they need to spend big to bring in another new forward.
Dias left Anfield for Bayern in a £65m deal last summer, while Olise joined the German giants from Crystal Palace the year before. Gerrard was hugely impressed with both players and praised them both on Tuesday night while covering Bayern’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid, in which Dias scored.

When asked on TNT Sports whether he likes watching Olise at Liverpool, he replied: “All day long.” “But the question is why did he leave Bayern Munich? A big club, they are challenging for big honours, probably the strongest Bayern Munich team we have seen for a while.
“He’s going to take the World Cup by storm in the summer. He’s a very happy kid, calm… I don’t think he’s going anywhere. But yeah, I want to love him at Liverpool. And guess what? I wouldn’t mind Dias coming back.”
Gerrard also discussed the matter on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning. “If you’re looking to replace Salah, I think there’s a concern in a similar sense that there are very few players available,” he said.

“I would say Olise would be one of them, but I don’t think he will be available, but having been at Liverpool as a player and having had the experience of me leaving, the Liverpool recruitment team will have different options and that doesn’t necessarily mean they will look for someone similar.”
“For example, when we had to replace[Sadio]Mane, we chose Dias a little differently, or when[Luis]Suarez left, they had different types of options to replace players.
“But Liverpool have a great track record of replacing top players who have left, so I have absolute confidence that from a recruitment perspective they will have different types of options, not necessarily similar ones.

“One thing is for sure: in terms of goals and assists, they have to somehow replace his goal involvement. That’s very difficult because he’s been great for Liverpool over the years.”
Slott made a very similar point when discussing the issue last week. Asked on Friday if Liverpool had any plans to sign a replacement for Salah, he said: “Of course.” “We’re not starting to work on it now, because we’re always working on things we can improve on. “This hasn’t been talked about too much, but it was the 88th minute when Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirths were on the pitch together.
“So let’s first look at and think about how it works together. That can give us a lot. There’s never just one player who can replace Mo. Otherwise, there would be 15 or 20 Mos. And he’s unique. That’s why he’s special. You’ll never find a replacement for Mo.”
