Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal remain favorites to win the Premier League against Manchester City despite suffering disastrous defeats in their last two cup matches.
Arsenal must now turn their focus back to the Champions League and Premier League after Saturday’s shock FA Cup defeat to Championship-chasing Southampton. The Gunners will travel to Lisbon to face Sporting CP in the first leg of the quarter-finals, looking to take a decisive step towards the semi-finals.
Mikel Arteta’s side return to Premier League action this Saturday for the first time since March 14, when they welcomed Bournemouth to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal remain firmly in control of the title race, despite Manchester City hot on their heels following their Carabao Cup final win at Wembley.
However, the Gunners technically need just 15 points (five straight wins from here) to win the trophy. The North London side have amassed 70 points from 31 games, while second-placed City have 61 points from 30 games.

This means Arsenal could finish with 91 points if they win all their remaining games, while City’s highest expected score is 85. The decisive flashpoint will come when Arsenal travel to City on April 19 in a game that could change the situation dramatically.
Even if Arsenal lose, they will still have the upper hand and are six points clear of City, but there will be a noticeable change in momentum, especially given their recent results.

However, if they win at the Etihad Stadium, they could travel to London to face West Ham for the title as early as May 9th.
To achieve that, they will also need to win against Newcastle (H) and Fulham (H) to ensure they have secured maximum points before those games.
If Arsenal draw with City, a home win against Burnley would be enough, but they would also need to win their remaining games before then.
City’s game against Crystal Palace is set to be rescheduled for later in the season, but there is a good chance City will drop points before their next trip to Chelsea to face Arsenal.
Elsewhere, City face difficult away trips to Everton and Bournemouth, before hosting Aston Villa on the final day of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Arsenal look relatively on track to take on Burnley, who are already likely to be relegated, before heading to Crystal Palace on the final day of the season.
Opta has analyzed the data and believes Arsenal have a 97.42% chance of winning the title.
