Manchester United have been without Patrick Dorg since late January due to a hamstring injury, and the left winger is making good progress with Carrington.
Patrick Dawg is making good progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury, with a big boost from Michael Carrick. The Manchester United winger has been sidelined since picking up the injury in the 3-2 away win against Arsenal on January 25.
Dorg suffered the injury after scoring against the Gunners and was expected to be out for around 10 weeks. The Denmark international was a revelation during Carrick’s early interim arrival and will provide another option on the left flank upon his return.
He has missed eight games so far, and given his initial prognosis, the target date for his return was scheduled for April 13th in the Premier League against Leeds. The game against Leeds is believed to be too soon for Dorg, but United announced on Saturday that he was back on the grass at the Carrington training ground and training individually.
The 21-year-old is undergoing extensive strength and conditioning training in preparation for his return to the team. United have seven games remaining this season and their only goal is to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

They sit third in the Premier League, winning seven of 10 games under Carrick and taking 23 points from a possible 30. In fact, United didn’t miss Dorg, with Carrick shuffling the puck to cover Matheus Cunha on the left side of the attack, but his pre-injury form will be remembered.
Dorg scored in a 1-0 win against Newcastle on Boxing Day, a 2-0 win over Manchester City on 17 January and a stunning 3-2 win over league leaders Arsenal on 25 January.
Carrick said after the win over Arsenal: “Pat is a big player for us. Obviously he’s scored two goals, but in terms of threat, athleticism and quality he’s very good compared to Luke (Shaw) against two teams that have a lot of question marks.”
“I’m happy for him because the two goals he scored were completely different goals. It’s nice to see him smiling and happy.”
Gary Neville summed up his form on Sky Sports, saying: “Patrick Dorg looked like a very average wing-back under Ruben Amorim. As he progresses further, he looks like a completely different player.”
Dorg has played in 22 Premier League games this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists, and played as a left wing-back under Amorim before being moved to a traditional left wing position under Carrick.
He is sidelined along with Matthijs de Ligt, who is unfortunately sidelined with a back injury. The Dutch international has not played since the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on November 30th.
