Liverpool lost 0-4 away to Manchester City and were eliminated from this season’s FA Cup, but Arne Slott could not hide his disappointment in the post-match interview.

A dissatisfied Arn Slott bemoaned Liverpool’s poor finishing and defensive woes in their 4-0 defeat against Manchester City. Slott’s side are currently out of the FA Cup, putting pressure on his position as manager.

The Reds were brilliant in the first 30 minutes of Saturday’s quarter-final, only to find themselves two points down at half-time thanks to Erling Haaland’s double.

Antoine Semenyo came on just after half-time and Haaland scored his fourth goal to complete his hat-trick. Liverpool’s misery worsened when Mo Salah missed a penalty in the 67th minute.

The hosts eased off in the closing stages, but Slott is well aware it could have been much worse. The Reds manager admitted after the game that the “only good thing” about the game was that City didn’t score another goal.

Slott also told TNT Sports: “It’s very disappointing to lose, not just in the way we did it, but also in the result and the score.” “It’s another big disappointment for us.

“What we lacked for most of the season was converting chances into goals. I think it was an even game until they took the penalty, but the last time we played here we conceded just before half-time and today was the same again.”

“We got a penalty, we had some chances, but that doesn’t tell me anything. For the first 35 minutes we were the kind of team I’d like to see. But the next 20 minutes we have to defend, so we’re much better than what we did today.”

“It wasn’t good to end the game 2-0 just before half-time, and it didn’t feel good, especially after the season we’ve had. It was really hard to take. The only good thing was that we didn’t concede more goals.”

Slott was then asked about Salah’s mistake, but he tried not to name anyone. “I’m not going to focus on one player. I’m going to focus on the team, and that probably sums up who we are today, but also probably most of the season,” added the Dutchman.

“I think it’s the second time he’s missed and Dominik Szoboszlai has already missed a penalty, so not only did we miss a big chance, but we’ve missed a few penalties this season.

“Mo had a chance in the first half when we launched a quick counter-attack. Unfortunately it didn’t work out. If we want to have a chance to win the game, we have to score.”
