Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has ruled himself out until the end of the season after Arne Slott confirmed Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak will return to training ahead of the FA Cup and Champions League clashes.
Alisson expected to miss important Liverpool games due to recent injury
Manager Arne Slott has admitted that Liverpool expect Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson to be out “until near the end of the season” as he recovers from another injury.
Alisson missed the away match against Galatasaray in the Champions League due to an injury sustained in training. before heading home for the Premier League game against Tottenham and the return leg against the Turkish giants.
However, he was again withdrawn from the squad on the eve of the away Premier League trip to Brighton ahead of the international break, and was ruled out of both the upcoming FA Cup games against Manchester City and Champions League games against Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against City, Reds boss Slott confirmed his absence, saying: “He won’t even play in the PSG game. (He) will be out for a bit longer. Towards the end of the season, we expect him to be fit.”

Slott has provided further encouraging updates on both Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak, with the Egyptian remaining fit enough to rejoin the squad following the defeat against Brighton. Meanwhile, Isaac has returned to full training after breaking his leg in December.
Regarding Salah’s first appearance since announcing he would leave the Reds at the end of this season, Slott said: “Yes, he is (available). He trained with us yesterday, he trained with us today and he will be available tomorrow.”
The Reds’ manager cautioned Isaac, saying, “Yesterday was his first practice in 101 days, so it’s too early to expect him to start.”

“It’s going to take a little bit of time to give him a lot of playing time, but we’re going to make sure we do the right things to strengthen him. Getting him on the training ground is good, getting him on the pitch is even better.”
On whether Isak will be on the bench, Slott added: “It’s a difficult question. We’re not playing a ‘normal’ game. We could go into overtime and if he can only play 10 minutes, that’s going to be difficult.”

Slott also admitted that right-back Jeremy Frimpong is “okay” but his playing time may need to be managed carefully after sustaining an injury on Tuesday while on duty with the Dutch national team.
