Max Dauman is the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history and the Arsenal teenager’s rapid development has surprised Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has described Max Doman’s meteoric rise as “crazy” after the Frenchman made an incredible introduction to first-team football at the Emirates. The 16-year-old made history as the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history when he found the back of the net in the 2-0 win over Everton in March.
The winger took a bow in the top flight on August 23 when he came off the bench in the 64th minute of Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Leeds United. Since then, Dauman has made seven appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Jesus praised Dauman’s influence in a meeting with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

The Brazilian revealed on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast that he was genuinely surprised to find out that Arsenal’s teenage sensation was still attending school despite his rise to stardom.
He said, “Max is only 16. He started with us when we were 15. I told you before. When I was 15, I was playing in the streets. I hadn’t made it yet. It’s crazy.”
“So it’s crazy that he’s playing in the Champions League and the Premier League at 15 years old. I ask him after the game and he scores a goal and he says, ‘How was school today?'” It was Sunday, so on Monday I ask him, “How was school today?”

“And he’s like, ‘No, I’ll come later.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, okay.’
“Because in Brazil, if something like this happens, you won’t be able to go to school. It’s impossible.”

Dowman was called up to the England Under-19 squad during the international break. And the teenager scored a stunning goal against Portugal in a UEFA European Championship qualifier.
Dowman’s next chance to shine could come in the FA Cup quarter-final away to Southampton on Saturday (8pm CET).
The promising youngster has started once in the FA Cup for Arsenal this season, playing 77 minutes in Arsenal’s 2-1 fifth round win over Mansfield Town earlier this month.
