Chelsea have announced a pre-tax loss in their latest financial results for the 2024/25 season.
Chelsea have announced a staggering pre-tax loss of £262.4 million in their latest financial accounts. Premier League clubs attribute part of their losses to increased operating costs for the 2024/25 season, but are still subject to the PSR.
The latest information from Chelsea comes 12 months after the London outfit announced a profit of £128.4m. Part of that profit came from the sale of the club’s women’s team to Bruco Midco for around £200m.
Chelsea have recorded financial losses, but the Blues are thought to be in compliance with Premier League profit and sustainability rules for the three years until the 2024/25 season. Under the rules, Chelsea are allowed to make losses of £105m over three years, but this does not include losses incurred on investment in infrastructure, the women’s team and youth development.
As a result, Chelsea are understood to have complied with PSR rules and have not been charged with any financial breaches. This also applies to the rest of the Premier League, with no clubs being prosecuted for breaching the PSR in 2025/26.
Chelsea recorded revenue of £490.9m, the second highest in the club’s history. Nevertheless, it was not enough to prevent the club from announcing a significant loss in its recent financial results.

Chelsea had not yet published its full financial results on its website as of Wednesday morning, but it has filed its accounts with Companies House. The announcement also revealed that Chelsea’s women’s team recorded a loss of £17.1m, despite having a profit of £21.3m.

Chelsea’s new owner Bruko has self-declared the club into the Premier League after buying it from Roman Abramovich. The Blues were found guilty of making undisclosed payments to players, unregistered agents and other third parties by third parties connected to the club.
As a result, Chelsea were fined £10 million, banned from first-team transfers for one year and suspended for two years.
