Manager Arne Slott has been bemoaning Liverpool’s injury woes recently, but Liverpool have a new problem after Jeremy Frimpong played just 12 minutes while playing for the Netherlands.

Liverpool’s injury problems have worsened with another setback for Jeremy Frimpong. Frimpong, 25, has already missed 19 games in his debut season at Anfield and recently returned from a month-long layoff.
But Liverpool’s new £29.5m star could be back on the sidelines. Frimpong played just 13 minutes after coming on as a substitute at half-time in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Ecuador on Tuesday.
The right-back was pulled up and had to leave immediately. “It was a real setback. We had to take him off,” Dutch coach Ronald Koeman said.
There are concerns that Frimpong may have suffered his fourth hamstring injury since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen. With Connor Bradley and Wataru Endo also out with long-term injuries, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has been appointed as a regular at right-back.

Frimpong faces a race against time to be available for Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Manchester City. The Reds then resume their Champions League campaign against Paris Saint-Germain next Wednesday.
The two quarter-final matches will be played before a home Premier League match against Fulham on Saturday, April 11th. Liverpool are fifth in the table, five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
Injuries have been a factor in the Reds’ title defense being sluggish. In addition to Frimpong, Bradley and Endo, star players such as Mo Salah, Alexander Isak, Alisson, Federico Chiesa, Giovanni Leoni and Stefan Bicetic are also absent.

Hugo Ekitike also came on as a substitute early in the 2-1 away defeat to Brighton before the international break. “Mo Salah was injured, Alisson was injured and two minutes later Hugo Ekitike was injured,” Slott said after the match.
“It’s happened to us many times this season and it’s the same thing now.”
The Liverpool manager added: “When you play against a team that has only had 62 hours of rest, the first thing you have to do is make it an intense game, fight the first duel and have a tough duel. By the way, there was nothing wrong with the duel, but unfortunately there was a collision and that led to Hugo’s sending off.”
“They were a better team than us and created more chances. Whatever I say about this, people will take this as an excuse and I never like to make excuses after a game.”
