Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. dealt with the same problem as Kai Rooney in club search | Soccer | Sports

If Cristiano Ronaldo Junior decides to move to Real Madrid, he could face the same pressure and scrutiny that Kai Rooney endures. The 15-year-old son of the Portuguese soccer superstar of the same name recently trained with Real Madrid’s Under-16 team in Spain.

He is currently signed to the youth team of his father’s current club, Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr, and also played in the academies of Juventus and Manchester United during Ronaldo’s time there. Ronaldo Junior has temporarily returned to Spain with his family while his father recovers from a hamstring injury and could soon join Los Blancos permanently.

A move like this is important for the teenager and will accelerate his development as he competes with the best players of his generation.

But by signing for Real Madrid, he will also face unparalleled scrutiny, given that his father is the greatest player in the club’s long history.

Ronaldo Junior’s performance for the Spanish giants will attract far more attention than his matches for Al Nasr over the past three years. Fans will be curious to see if he reflects the Whites legend on the pitch.

Ronaldo Jr., who played for Portugal’s Under-15s and Under-17s, will either emerge from this experience as a great footballer, or suffer a setback that will damage a promising career.

Another talented young footballer who has had to bear the burden of playing for a club where his father is their all-time top scorer is Wayne Rooney’s son Kai Rooney, 16. Since joining United’s academy in 2020 aged just 11, the striker has had to face relentless comparisons with Wayne.

But Rooney has already successfully navigated what Ronaldo Jr. wants to achieve in Spain by handling pressure and being in the spotlight. He recently progressed to Darren Fletcher’s Under-18s and made his Old Trafford debut in the FA Youth Cup earlier this year.

Regarding the attention his son and Ronaldo Jr. are receiving, Wayne said: “There’s a bit more pressure on them too. When Kai and Ronaldo came back, Ronaldo’s son and Michael Carrick’s son were all in the same team.”

“You go to a game and all of a sudden there’s about 10 times as many people as usual gathered around the pitch watching. They’re coming to watch their three kids play and things like that, so it’s an added pressure. They have to be ready.”

Rooney’s mother, Coleen, says that rather than being annoyed by the constant comparisons, she takes it easy. She told the Times: “He lived it from an early age.

“When he was younger and we went to games, he had a lot of people come up to him and say, ‘Oh, are you Wayne Rooney’s son?'” But he’s always had a strong heart. I have no concerns about how he handles it. ”
