Elliott Anderson is high on Manchester United’s list of candidates for a new midfielder this summer, but the Nottingham Forest and England star is also wanted by Manchester City.
Elliott Anderson insists he is focused solely on England despite being at the center of a £100m transfer bid this summer. Manchester United are interested in the Nottingham Forest midfielder, but he also faces stiff competition from Manchester City.
Anderson, 23, has become a hot asset and Forest will be determined to keep their prize money asset. But Anderson insists he won’t lose sight of his top priority, which is to qualify for the World Cup.
Anderson said: “Obviously we have the World Cup this summer so my eyes are focused on that. I’m playing for England and I’m wearing the badge so that’s all I’m thinking about right now.”
Anderson also faces a possible World Cup appearance due to his relegation battle with Forest, but he is ready for the challenge. He added:

“But at the end of the day, every game is the same. I’m just going to go on the pitch and give it my all and try to fight for my spot. That’s all I’m doing.”
Anderson joins fellow England international Adam Wharton, Brighton star Carlos Baleva and Wolves ace Joao Gomez on United’s shortlist to sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window. Last week, Casemiro admitted he had no intention of reversing his decision to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in June.
“I’m still really enjoying it (in Manchester),” Casemiro said after Brazil’s 2-1 loss to France in the United States on Friday. “The love the fans have shown me is huge.

“But I really believe the decision has been taken and completed. I think there will be some difficult moments in these (final) games at Manchester United.”
Anderson will be hoping to impress when England take on Japan at Wembley on Tuesday, before returning to action alongside Forest. In their first game after the international break, Vitor Pereira’s side host Porto in the Europa League quarter-finals.
The former Newcastle prospect will have the chance to impress for United when Forest travel to Old Trafford in May. Anderson is under contract at the City Ground until 2029.
