Lionesses star Missy Beau Kearns has revealed that she and her footballer partner Liam Walsh have tragically lost their baby. The Aston Villa and England midfielder shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram.
She posted on her Stories, “It is with a very heavy heart that I want to share that we lost a baby during my pregnancy. The last few weeks have been filled with a kind of sadness that is hard to explain and we are still trying to come to terms with everything.”
“Right now, we are focused on recovering from this situation and supporting each other. We are truly grateful for the love and support around us more than words can express.”
Liam, 28, also shared the same message on his Instagram. Aston Villa Women’s Team and BBC Sport both took to social media to express their solidarity with Liam and Missy Boe.
Aston Villa said: “We send all our love and support to Missy Boe and Liam at this difficult time.”
BBC Sport said: “Very sad news. Our thoughts go to Missy Beau Kearns and Liam Walsh.”
In response to these messages, many other footballers and clubs offered their condolences to the couple. Aston Villa boss Rachel Daly wrote: “Love you.” Liverpool Women’s Team wrote: “Everyone at Liverpool Football Club sends their love and support to Missy Boe, Liam and their families at this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, the Berkeley Women’s Super League said: “Our thoughts are with Missy, Liam and all their loved ones at this heartbreaking time.”
West Ham Women’s team also said: “We send our love to Missy and her partner during this difficult time.”
Aston Villa and England ace Kearns, 24, revealed in a video earlier this month that she was planning to give birth. The couple shared a video of themselves writing “Mom + Dad” and the due date set for September on a wall. Ultrasound images were also displayed.
Kearns was selected as a stand-by player for the Euros just two days after making his senior debut in the UEFA Nations League match between England and Spain, coming on as a half-time substitute.
Her partner Liam is a midfielder for Luton Town. He started his career at Everton and had a loan spell at Yeovil Town. He has also played for Birmingham City and Coventry City.
