U.S. could face Iran at this summer’s World Cup as predictions emerge
Amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East, it is expected that the United States could face Iran in this summer’s World Cup. The United States will co-host this summer’s tournament with Canada and Mexico, taking center stage throughout June and July.
England are also traveling across the Atlantic for the World Cup this summer, helping manager Thomas Tuchel oversee a perfect qualifying campaign with a 100 per cent record.
Former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is currently the manager of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), who will compete in Group D of this year’s tournament.
The United States will play Paraguay, Australia, Turkey or Kosovo in the World Cup’s group stage, with the last remaining team determined in a playoff during the international break.

Turkey is the favorite to beat Kosovo and join the United States in Group D of this summer’s World Cup, which has predicted its likely opponents and path to the final.
The Sun, which compiled data from Football Meets Data, predicts Turkey will emerge from the group as champions, with the United States finishing as runners-up.
Group G will include Iran, Belgium, New Zealand and Egypt. If Iran finishes second in its group and the United States finishes second in Group D, the two countries will face each other in the next round.

AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, will host a Round of 32 match on July 3, with the United States potentially facing Iran in the first World Cup finals tournament.
Iran’s participation in this summer’s World Cup has been a topic of uncertainty since the Middle East conflict began last month.
US President Donald Trump acknowledged on February 28 that a military operation had been carried out in Iran. In response, Iran launched a retaliatory attack, putting the country’s participation in this summer’s World Cup in jeopardy.
White House World Cup Task Force Chairman Andrew Giuliani recently said he expects Iran to play in this summer’s World Cup despite heightened uncertainty.
“At this point, we’re hopeful that the Iranian team will come,” Giuliani said, via the BBC. “I think it’s a great opportunity for the Iranian diaspora here in the United States to be able to celebrate their homeland.
“We are doing everything we can to make it happen safely and securely, but we need to open up to the Department of Homeland Security to give this the best chance of being not just a safe and secure World Cup, but a truly incredible success.”
