Jamie Carragher has been criticized for collaborating with the club on social media after Mohamed Salah announced his departure from Liverpool.
Jamie Carragher has hit back at Liverpool supporters who accused him of showing disrespect towards Mohamed Salah after naming the Egyptian sixth in the club’s all-time best player rankings. On Tuesday, Salah announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season.
He confirmed his decision by sharing an emotional video showcasing numerous highlights from his time at the club. Two days later, club media published an interview with Carragher in which he ranked who, in his opinion, were the best players to ever play for the team.
Salah ranks sixth in the rankings of former Liverpool defenders, behind Ian Rush, John Barnes, Graeme Souness, Sir Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool Echo reports that many social media users criticized Carragher for being disrespectful to Salah over the timing of his article, which came just 48 hours after the Egyptian was confirmed to have been sent off.
Mr Carragher, defending, insisted there was no disrespect intended, but also revealed that the club’s internal media department had released the video. He tweeted: “The timing couldn’t have been worse for anyone. I did this interview before Salah announced his decision.

“Then (I) went to the overlap the day after Salah’s announcement and said I would put him in sixth place on the LFC list. The club decided to announce it before I parted with the full list!”
After another social media user hinted that Carragher was trying to attack Salah given the war of words they’ve been having all season, the former centre-back hit back forcefully again.
“I’m not his biggest critic, but when was the last time I criticized a player named Salah? I said he was the second best foreign player in PL history!”
“You and many others don’t know enough about the history of the club and are very disrespectful to the other players on the list!”
Carragher spoke about Salah’s departure on Overlap, suggesting Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League might consider a return to Italy, where he played for Fiorentina and AS Roma before moving to Anfield.
Carragher said: “I think Mo Salah drives like Ronaldo, but I still don’t understand Saudi Arabia.
“I can see him as part of the giants in Italy. I think if he goes there (Saudi Arabia) his career will be over. I think he is still focused on his record in the Champions League and how many goals he can score.”
“I think he still thinks, ‘I’m still one of the best players and leaving now is not the end of my career at the top level, I still have something to offer.’
