Josep Guardiola’s future at Manchester City remains in big doubt as he is linked with a possible exit this summer, with one of his former colleagues giving his opinion on the possibility of an exit.
Josep Guardiola’s former Bayern Munich colleague has suggested he could leave Manchester City this summer amid growing doubts over his future. Guardiola’s future at the Etihad is already in big doubt, with suggestions that he could leave within just a few months.
That remains despite the Spanish manager still having a contract with City until the summer of 2027. Former Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer, who worked under Guardiola in Germany, has now given his opinion and believes all is not well.
“First of all, I was very happy for him. We had a great cooperation for three years and it was very, very good,” Zamar said on Sky German’s Zamar and Basil – Hagedorn Talk.
“I think I could understand him very well from his facial expressions, his body language, his eyes, the way he spoke. When I looked at his face, I instinctively felt that something was wrong.”

And he has now urged Guardiola to consider taking a break from the dugout to rediscover his passion for the game. He added: “When I look into your eyes, when I look at your face, and in other ways, you don’t have to explain to ignorant people who you are, who you are and that you can’t always win. I would advise him to take a deep breath.”
Guardiola has already given his views on his future, admitting that he will take time off if he ultimately leaves the Etihad. Earlier this season he said: “I’m going to quit after this stage at City, that’s for sure, it’s more than decided.
“I don’t know how long I’m going to stop. One year, two years, three years, five years, 10 years, 15 years, I don’t know. But I’m going to stop after this stage in City, because I need to stop and focus on myself, my body and…”
“In Catalan, we say badal. Badal, badal, badal… This is what I want to do. When the train goes by, I just stop and watch the cows go by. My grandfather used to say, you look at me like a cow watches a train go by. Well, that’s it. You have to stop and watch the cows go by.”
If this is Guardiola’s last season at City, he will be walking away with some silverware. Despite defeating Premier League rivals Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at the weekend, City are still in the FA Cup and will face Liverpool.
Guardiola’s side remain hopeful of winning the Premier League after defeating Arsenal, but are nine points off the pace with eight games remaining.
