Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, but says he has no plans to make a dramatic U-turn.
Casemiro insists he has no intention of reversing his decision to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, despite pleas from supporters.
The former Real Madrid midfielder, 34, announced in January that he would leave Old Trafford when his contract expires this summer and already has a number of suitors, including MLS clubs and Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.
Manchester United fans changed their minds on Casemiro after his recent Premier League goal against Aston Villa, calling for him to stay longer after the midfielder’s improvement in form in recent months, chanting “One more year, another year, Casemiro”.
But speaking to The Athletic after Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to France on Thursday, Casemiro admitted he had no intention of making a U-turn.

“I’m still having a lot of fun (in Manchester),” Casemiro said. “I think the announcement is complete. The love that my fans have shown me is huge.
“But I truly believe that the decision has been taken and it’s over. I’m enjoying it now. I think the (last) game for Manchester United will be a difficult (emotional) moment.”
Casemiro has been one of the team’s most in-form players since Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim on an interim basis following the Portuguese manager’s departure in January.
The midfielder’s contract, which makes him one of the team’s highest earners, includes a clause that gives him an extra year of eligibility if he starts 35 games this season.
However, it was revealed earlier this week that the player and United had agreed to waive that clause, meaning Casemiro is under no contractual obligation to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer.
Casemiro went on to praise the great job Carrick has done since taking over as head coach midway through the season, adding: “Above all, Michael was a specialist in my position on the field and a really great player. That made everything a lot easier and he was always talking to us.”
“I feel like we’re in a good place at the moment in Manchester. My goal now is to get the club back into the Champions League.”
