The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada later this year, and England supporters can now access the matches completely free on YouTube.
England supporters could be able to watch Three Lions World Cup matches on YouTube next summer. FIFA has already confirmed that the video sharing platform has been appointed as one of the priority platforms for this summer’s tournaments.
As a result, the governing body told rights holders that they would be allowed to broadcast all five matches on YouTube, and that they could also share the first 10 minutes of each match.
The Times reports that the BBC and ITV are seriously considering the idea. They will then need to agree which live matches they want to broadcast in full, with final approval left by FIFA.
It has also been suggested that UK broadcasters may apply to broadcast the final in full live through their respective YouTube accounts. The plan comes after FIFA signed a deal with YouTube, with the aim of reaching younger fans by sharing matches on the platform.

“FIFA is pleased to welcome YouTube as the preferred platform for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. By spotlighting FIFA’s premium content and creating new opportunities for media partners and creators, this agreement will engage fans around the world in a way never seen before,” FIFA Secretary General Matthias Grafström said after the announcement last week.
“As the world’s attention turns to the games in Canada, Mexico and the United States, this collaboration with YouTube reinforces our ambition to maximize the impact of the tournament across the evolving media landscape and give fans everywhere easy access to immersive footage of the largest single sporting event in history.”
“YouTube is committed to delivering a global, fan-centric, and interactive approach to sports entertainment, and we’re proud to be the preferred platform for the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” said Justin Connolly, YouTube vice president and global head of media and sports.
“By providing premium content and unparalleled access to official media partners and creators, we are creating an inclusive experience for both our fans and partners. Whether you’re an avid fan or a casual fan, this partnership will help usher in the next generation of fans and demonstrate that no other platform brings the world together around big moments like YouTube.”
ITV and the BBC will split coverage of the World Cup. The former will broadcast 34 group stage matches, including England vs. Croatia and Panama.
Meanwhile, the BBC will play 38 group games and have the first pick for the round of 32 and 16 games, but ITV will have priority for the quarter-finals.
