Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was pictured at Championship side Ipswich Town’s home earlier this week and looks set to head to the Premier League side.
Reform Britain leader Nigel Farage has been invited to Sunderland after a controversial visit to Ipswich Town. The divisive politician shared a number of pictures taken at the Championship side’s Portman Road home base earlier this week.
This drew heavy criticism from local media as well as supporters. But it looks like Mr Farage’s football-themed visit isn’t over yet.
The 61-year-old revealed he has been invited to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light for an upcoming match. He told ITV News: “I have spoken to one of the managers and they would very much like to see me at a home game. If I can play, I will.”
Sunderland have just won promotion to the Premier League last summer and are having an exciting season. The Black Cats currently sit in 11th place with 43 points with seven games left in the season.

Ipswich, who are aiming to join Sunderland in the top flight next season, explained the background to Farage’s visit. A statement from the championship said: “Ipswich Town Football Club has hosted representatives from a variety of political parties over the years.
“The club remains apolitical and does not endorse or endorse any individual or political party. The club continues to engage with representatives across the political spectrum as part of its role within the community.”
“Ipswich Town is proud to be an inclusive, diverse and welcoming organization that supports all members of the local and wider community and this commitment will continue.”
Meanwhile, Ipswich Town Supporters Club confirmed a number of fans had contacted them to share their verdict. “We would like to thank all of our fans who took the time to reach out and share their thoughts on recent visits by politicians,” the statement said.
“As part of our terms and conditions, we are here to represent the views of our fans directly to football clubs and to help football clubs respond to their fans in a way that supports mutual respect and understanding.”
During Farage’s visit, he was photographed both in the changing room and pitchside, and was also seen smiling and wearing Ipswich’s ‘Farage 10’ shirt. The Clacton MP has previously been at the center of the British Reform movement, launching his own line of football shirts that share the party’s colors and feature Farage’s name on the back.
