Roberto De Zerbi has been heavily linked with a Manchester United appointment in recent months, but it seems unlikely he will take over at Old Trafford this summer.
Roberto De Zerbi is not thought to be a candidate for Manchester United, despite previously being shortlisted to become the club’s head coach.
The 46-year-old highly-rated Italian is likely to remain in demand this summer, given the amount of work he has done in the Premier League and the impressive workload he has put in at Brighton during his two years on the south coast. And De Zerbi has been strongly linked with the Old Trafford vacancy following United’s decision to sack Ruben Amorim at the start of January.
Michael Carrick has stabilized the team since taking over until the end of the season and is now one of the favorites to win the head coach position permanently.
However, De Zerbi is not one of them, and the i Paper reports that the camp is currently under the impression that he is not a candidate to replace Amorim.

However, the former Marseille manager is of significant interest to Tottenham. And despite Spurs’ relegation fears, he could beat out Mauricio Pochettino for the job if he is willing to take it now rather than wait until the end of the season.
De Zerbi is said to be “enjoying” the prospect of taking over at Tottenham, who are just one point above the Premier League relegation zone. They may part ways with interim boss Igor Tudor sooner than expected to facilitate a permanent appointment.
It was revealed earlier this week that Manchester United are yet to hold talks with a potential manager, but this is a huge boost for Carrick, who has impressed since taking charge in mid-January.
The former United and Tottenham midfielder has only lost one of the 10 games he has managed, winning seven of them, significantly increasing the Red Devils’ chances of qualifying for the Champions League.
Sky Sports have reported that Manchester United’s leaders are relaxed about the current management situation and do not intend to make a decision on their next move before the end of the season.
Oliver Glasner, who will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, Andoni Iraola and Luis Enrique from Bournemouth are among the managers who have been linked with United in recent weeks.
