Mohamed Salah has confirmed his departure from Liverpool, marking the end of one of the most glorious chapters in the club’s long history.
Mohamed Salah has announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of this season. It was confirmed on Tuesday night that an agreement had been reached with the forward to end his nine-year stay at Anfield.
The 33-year-old joined Anfield from Roma in 2017 and during his time on Merseyside won two Premier League titles, a Champions League crown, an FA Cup and two Carabao Cup trophies, becoming Liverpool’s third all-time top scorer.
And as things stand, the 33-year-old will play his final game for the Reds against Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season. The match is scheduled to take place at Anfield on Sunday, May 24th. However, Salah could still be playing for the Reds in a week’s time.
That’s because the Champions League final will be held on Saturday, May 30th at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary. Of course, Liverpool will be playing in the Champions League later this month, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals.
The player could still make two trips to Wembley before departing, as Arne Slott’s side return to action in the FA Cup quarter-finals against Manchester City after their international break.

“Salah has expressed his desire to make this announcement at the earliest opportunity, out of respect and gratitude to his supporters, to provide them with transparency about his future.”
Salah scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for the Reds, placing him third on the club’s all-time top scorer list. He has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times and has been named Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year three times, in 2018, 2022 and 2025.
In a video posted to X featuring highlights from his time at Liverpool, Salah said: “Hello everyone. Unfortunately this day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season.”
“First of all, I would like to say that I never imagined that this club, this city, these people would be part of my life. Liverpool is more than just a football club. It’s a passion, a history, a spirit. I can’t explain it in words to anyone other than this club.”
“We celebrated victories, won the most important trophies and fought through the most difficult times of our lives together. I would like to thank everyone who has been part of this club throughout my time here, especially my teammates past and present.”
“And to my fans, I have no words. The support you showed me during the best times of my career, and you stood by me during the most difficult times. That is something I will never forget and something I will always carry with me.”
“Leaving is never easy. You have given me the time of my life and I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home, for me and for my family.”
“Thank you as always. Thanks to all of you, I can never walk alone.”
