Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he misses working in England, fueling rumors he could make a successful return to his former club Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
Mauricio Pochettino admits he “misses the English football scene” as speculation continues to mount over a return to the Premier League and a link with former club Tottenham Hotspur.
Pochettino had a hugely successful five years at Spurs, leading the club to the Champions League final before stepping down in 2019. And Pochettino’s name has been mentioned frequently at the north London club as the club looks set to appoint a new head coach in the coming months.
After leaving Tottenham, Pochettino managed Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain before becoming head coach of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) ahead of this summer’s home World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Canada and Mexico.
Rumors abound about Tottenham’s financial situation, with the club languishing just one point above the relegation zone, and Igor Tudor’s future is far from certain.

Pochettino has his sights set on the World Cup, but admitting he misses English football will do little to quell rumors of a return to Spurs this summer.
“I miss the English football scene. I love this country, its culture, its football culture,” the Argentine said in a new interview with L’Equipe.
“This is the ideal place for competitive people who like to measure themselves against others and test their limits. Here you always have to do your best.”
Pochettino’s comments about English football come at a time when Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as a leading candidate to succeed Tottenham.
The Telegraph reported on Monday that De Zerbi, who is already in talks with Spurs, is willing to take over as the club’s successor if they avoid relegation.
The Italian has been highly regarded during his two-year spell at Premier League club Brighton and has been free of charge since leaving Marseille last month.
Tottenham suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, plunging them deeper into the relegation battle. The visiting side started the weekend bottom of Spurs before registering a valuable win in north London, with goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi clinching victory.
