Cristiano Ronaldo has injured his hamstring and will not play in the match against Portugal during the March international break.
Cristiano Ronaldo was injured before the World Cup but said he is “getting better every day”. The icon will not be displayed on the Portuguese national team during this week’s international friendly matches between Mexico and the United States.
The 41-year-old has been sidelined with Al Nasr since February, missing two league games and having to continue his rehabilitation in private. Ronaldo missed out on the penultimate selection ahead of this summer’s World Cup as he continues to recover.
But the Portuguese icon hasn’t let the injury dampen his spirits. Ronaldo posted several photos on his Instagram on Monday, showing his followers that the healing process is underway.
The first image shows the veteran star using a leg press machine to strengthen his incredible lower body muscles while breathing. The next snap shows him grinning as he works out his chest, barefoot and wearing a turquoise sports set.

Fans reacted happily to the post, encouraging him to win major tournaments this summer, with the caption: “Getting better every day” and a muscle emoji.

“Loading 2026 World Cup,” one person wrote, while another added: “Ready for a return.”
A third person said, “(The goat) never rests his legs for a day,” and another said, “Goat, please get well soon.”
Portugal coach Roberto Martínez has confirmed that the injury is not a feared one and will be happy to monitor his captain’s recovery process. “We have players who are not ready. We have players who are not medically fit, such as Ruben Dias, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nelson Semedo,” he said.
Asked if Ronaldo could miss the 2026 World Cup, Martinez added: “No, he’s not in any danger. It’s a minor muscle injury. Everything Cristiano has done physically this season shows that he’s in great shape.”
Ronaldo has played five times for Portugal so far and admitted this summer’s tournament will be his last World Cup after making his first appearance in 2006.
The 226-cap Portugal international will aim to win his first and final World Cup trophy after his international success includes winning two European Championships.
