Liverpool lost 2-1 to Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday, but Stephen Warnock fears his former club could face punishment from PSG if performance levels do not improve.
Manager Stephen Warnock has warned that Liverpool could suffer a 10-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain if they perform as badly as they did away to Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Arne Slott’s team sank with two goals from Danny Welbeck, sandwiched in by Milos Kerkes. The defeat means Liverpool have just one point from their last three Premier League games, two of which have come against struggling Wolves and Tottenham.
The defeat on the south coast came just days after the Reds booked a Champions League quarter-final date with PSG courtesy of an impressive win over Galatasaray.
But Warnock said his performance was “very worrying” as he fears his former club could slip into the hands of the reigning European champions if they perform like they did against Brighton.

“If they play like that in Paris, it could be 10-0,” he said on BBC Radio 5 Live. “That’s how bad Liverpool were today. Brighton were not clinical and they tried to bring it, but PSG will be clinical. It’s very worrying for Liverpool.”
Manager Rob Green also harshly criticized Slott’s position, saying the defeat on the south coast was a “setback” after their big win in Europe in midweek.
“You never know what you’re going to get from this team,” said the former England goalkeeper. “The backbone of the team isn’t there. They’re looking around saying, ‘What’s going on?’ They don’t have the answers.”
There are still seven league games left this season, but Liverpool have already lost 10 Premier League games, the most since the 2015-16 season. And Slott admitted it was up to him to “find the answers” to ensure Liverpool finish the season on a high.
“Of course. This article says a few things. First of all, it says what a great team and great manager Liverpool have been over the last 10 years. You can come and tell me all the reasons why we’ve lost 10 times this season.”
“One of them is late goals. To sum it all up today from an injury point of view, being without three great goalscorers (Ekitike, Isak and Salah) is never beneficial for any team.
“But it’s not my job to make excuses. My job is to find answers, and that’s what I tried to do today.”
