Enzo Fernandes and Cole Palmer have been linked with moves from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with manager Liam Rosenior considering their respective futures.
Liam Rosenior has revealed that Chelsea’s transfer plans are already underway amid speculation over the futures of Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandes. Both Blues stars are linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.
England star Palmer has been linked with Manchester United, but Fernandes has left his future in doubt, especially with non-committal comments. Asked about Chelsea’s plans for next summer’s transfer window, Rosenior confirmed that early talks are underway.
“We are currently having very detailed discussions about the areas we want to strengthen,” Rosenior said.
“We’ve had great conversations about what we think we need. We’re actually very aligned in terms of where we want to strengthen and how we’re going to go about it. It’s very exciting. But the most important thing is to make sure we’re still doing the right things.”
“It’s great to be able to plan for the future, but we also want to make sure we’re in a good position. We want to win. That’s why I’m here and I’m having very good conversations with the owners and sporting director about that.”

As for Palmer and Fernandes, Rosenior admitted there was no doubt about their commitment. He added: “I talk to the players all the time, so I have a very good relationship with them.
“Not just about football and contract situations, but about their lives, how they live with their kids, how their kids are doing, how they’re doing at school. I have a very, very close relationship with Enzo and the other players.
“In terms of contracts and where they want to go, since I’ve been here, not one player at this club has said they don’t want to be here in the summer.
“Really, the conversation is about how we improve, what we can do as a group to improve, what we need to do to win in this moment. And that’s where we are right now.”
Chelsea are in contention to qualify for next season’s Champions League. They currently sit sixth in the table heading into this weekend’s showdown with Everton. Rosenior said Chelsea’s plans were not dependent on qualification for the competition.
“In conversations with the owners and the sporting director, our plans are not just based on whether we qualify for the Champions League or not,” Rosenior said.
“But there are a lot of what-ifs. There are a lot of what-ifs in life. So we need to make sure that the ‘what-ifs’ we create are as positive as possible. And we are still in a position to do that.”
