Arsenal are in pole position to win the Premier League title this season and former Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus could add to their medal collection
Gabriel Jesus has revealed that his ambition to lift the Premier League title was ridiculed by some of his Arsenal team-mates. The Brazilian joins the north London outfit from Manchester City in 2022 in a deal worth £45 million.
Jesus, who helped City win four Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford, stressed his desire to win another winners’ medal soon.
However, it appears not everyone was on the same page, with Jesus revealing that some of his former teammates thought he was joking.
“Some of them laughed,” Jesus said in an interview with The Athletic. “They said, ‘Oh, maybe we signed with the wrong club.’ I asked them why. With the quality of our team, why couldn’t we win the league?”

Arsenal came close to winning the title on numerous occasions during the forward’s time in North London. In each of his three seasons, the Gunners have finished runners-up.
But Mikel Arteta’s side look set to finally end their long wait for the title, with a nine-point lead over leaders Jesus’ former club Man City with seven games remaining.
“It’s a process that has to be respected,” Jesus added. “We went from fighting hard to qualify for the Champions League to fighting to win the title.
“We have to be happy about that. Our team is more experienced now, more mature. We can win the league this season and maybe win another trophy. Arsenal fans will probably say it’s the Premier League, because the Premier League has been around for over 20 years.”
“But they’ve never won the Champions League, so obviously it’s a dream for them to win both. I want to win everything, but if I have to choose, it’s the Champions League.”
Jesus sent a strong message to his team-mates ahead of the run-in, insisting the Gunners should enjoy the fact that they are in such a position. He said, “When you have[success]you can be afraid of losing it.
“We can’t be afraid because we don’t have it yet. We can’t lose what we don’t have. We have to go game by game and try to win.”
Arsenal’s bid to win the Premier League will be paused this weekend, but they still have a chance of winning a silver medal. Arteta’s side will face Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.
