Marcus Rashford has performed well on loan at Barcelona this season, but re-elected president Joan Laporta is still unwilling to pay the agreed £26m fee to make his deal permanent.
Manchester United are set to reject Barcelona’s offer to extend Marcus Rashford’s loan contract for another season. And United will tell the Spanish giants to either increase the agreed transfer fee of £26 million in full or else send the England star back to Manchester in June.
Rashford joined Barça on a season-long loan deal last summer. At the time, both clubs agreed that the deal would be permanent for £26m.
Rashford continues to rediscover his best form and is keen to commit to his long-term future at Barça. However, Barça’s re-elected president Joan Laporta wants to extend the striker’s loan into a second season to avoid having to meet the asking price until the summer of 2027.

United’s leaders have not spoken to their Spanish counterparts recently. However, it is understood that the English giants are not prepared to allow Rashford to remain at Camp Nou on loan.
United would be prepared to take Rashford back and sell him to the highest bidder ahead of next season.
Old Trafford bosses know Rashford’s resurgence in Spain has boosted his reputation in the transfer market. And United will be confident of getting the 28-year-old closer to £50m while also waiving his wage bill.

Rashford scored 10 goals and provided eight assists for the Catalan giants. He is expected to rejoin the England squad and feature in this summer’s World Cup.
And United know his reputation could rise even further if he has an impressive tournament with the Three Lions.
The situation has put both United and Barça on a collision course, with United unwilling to negotiate unless their terms are met.
