Galatasaray’s general secretary Elai Yazgan has made shocking statements following racist abuse against Ibrahima Konate. The Liverpool defender was subjected to horrific comments after his unfortunate collision with Victor Osimhen in the last-16 leg of the Champions League.
Liverpool have accused Konate of racist abuse, but Galatasaray manager Yazgan weighed in on the issue following Noah Lang’s freak injury, making completely outrageous claims. “Liverpool has never apologized to our club or to our players. This is unacceptable,” Yazgan was quoted as saying by Turkish media outlet A Spor.
“This silence and disregard for responsibility is an attempt to cover up the incident. Liverpool have not even apologized, but we can see them trying to divert attention by bringing up imaginary statements on social media that they claim were made against their own player Konate.”
“Despite the serious situation that is threatening the player’s health, Liverpool are trying to change the subject. A club like Liverpool should first explain the scandal that occurred on the pitch and make the necessary apology without delay. UEFA has launched an investigation into the incident that resulted in Lang’s injury.”
“We are also in contact with them. We cannot allow this to happen.” Asked for comment on Thursday, UEFA denied any such investigation had been launched.
They later announced: “UEFA will review the circumstances that led to the unfortunate accident suffered by Galatasaray SK player Noah Lang and will review pitch-side equipment, including LED boards, for all future matches to identify any similar potential risks and ask clubs to take appropriate measures where appropriate.”
“We wish Noah Lang a full and speedy recovery.” After the match, Liverpool officials were also seen near the scene of the incident and wished him a speedy recovery.
Lang underwent emergency thumb surgery early Thursday morning and announced on Instagram that the surgery was a success.
