Galatasaray star Noah Lang was carried off on a stretcher with a serious injury during the Champions League last-16 tie against Liverpool.
Noah Lang has released an update from the hospital after undergoing surgery after sustaining a serious injury during the Champions League match between Galatasaray and Liverpool. The winger appeared to have gotten his thumb stuck between an advertising board and a railing and had to be given oxygen before being taken away on a stretcher.
The 26-year-old posted an update on Instagram from Liverpool’s Whiston Hospital. He said in his story, “The surgery went well. Thank you for all the messages (red heart emoji).” He captioned his first post: “This is what happens.” Reds midfielder and Lang’s Dutch teammate Ryan Grabenbirch quickly responded to the update with a red heart emoji with hands together.
Head coach Okan Buruk said this after the game. “He is in the hospital because he has a serious problem with his finger.
“If an operation is needed, they will perform it here. Victor Osimhen has injured his arm and wanted to come out of the game at half-time, but he is currently in the hospital.”

A statement from the club regarding both players was then released early Thursday morning. “During the first half of the away game against Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, our player Victor Osimhen suffered a blow to the arm and finished the first half, but a half-time examination revealed that he could not play in the second half due to the risk of breaking his arm.”
“After the match, tests at the hospital under the supervision of the medical team revealed a fracture in the player’s right forearm, which was placed in a cast. Following further tests, a decision on surgery will be made in the coming days.”
“Later in the same match, our injured player Noah Lang sustained a serious injury to his right thumb and will undergo surgery in the next few hours in Liverpool with the participation of our medical team.”
It was a memorable night for Liverpool as they won the second leg 4-0 at Anfield and booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals. Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Grabenbert and Mohamed Salah all found the back of the net.
Despite scoring, it was a mixed night for the Liverpool talisman. That’s because he missed a penalty first and then was sent off due to a possible injury.
After the game, coach Arne Slott said: “He wanted to be substituted, not because he thought he had scored enough goals, but because he felt something. So we’ll see how he does over the weekend and after that.”
Alexander Isak has already been ruled out for Saturday’s game, but is close to making a comeback from a broken leg.
The Liverpool manager said earlier this week: “Although Alex won’t be available tomorrow (Wednesday), the fact that we can see him on the pitch means we’re getting closer and closer to him joining us again.”
“He won’t be available Saturday either. He won’t be ready to play unless he’s still practicing with the team.”
