National League South side Dagenham and Redbridge have sacked manager Lee Bradbury, marking the first major decision made by YouTuber turned media personality KSI. Former England, Liverpool and Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has been appointed interim manager.
KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olinka Williams Olatunji, was announced as a minority shareholder in the former Football League club in early March. Just two weeks later, Bradberry was relieved of his duties with the Daggers after a seven-month stint. The move comes less than 24 hours after a 3-2 win away at Farnborough with the club six points clear of the play-offs.
In a statement, the club said: “Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club can confirm that we have parted ways with first-team manager Lee Bradbury.
“We are extremely grateful for Lee’s focus, professionalism and dedication during his time at the club, and for his contribution on and off the pitch to the club’s stability last summer.
“Dagenham and Redbridge wish him every success in his future endeavours. Andy Carroll will lead the team on an interim basis and further updates will be provided in due course.”
Carroll made 248 Premier League appearances and scored 54 goals in a career that included stints at Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham United.
The 37-year-old has been a key player for Dagenham and Redbridge since signing in July, but it has since been revealed that he has become one of their new shareholders.
Carroll, a veteran, has appeared in 12 games for the National League South Daggers so far this season, scoring six goals.
He has not played since mid-December but will be in the dugout rather than up front in the next game, at home to Torquay United on Saturday.
