Former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has struggled to improve his form at Real Madrid but could be handed a major reinforcement in the summer
Trent Alexander-Arnold could receive a major boost to his Real Madrid career this summer, with the club reportedly preparing to start one of their main rivals. The full-back completed his move from Liverpool to Real Madrid last summer as his contract at Anfield expired.
The Reds secured a fee of around £10m after allowing the player to leave in time for last summer’s Club World Cup. Alexander-Arnold participated in the competition as part of Real Madrid after completing his transfer.
The 27-year-old’s introduction to life at Real Madrid hasn’t been as smooth as he had hoped. His playing time has been reduced due to two injuries, and he has been rotated in and out of the starting lineup.

He has also faced criticism for his performance at the start of the match. His defensive ability is the aspect that draws the most attention.
However, he could be promoted this summer, with BILD reporting that Real are set to complete a major overhaul of their squad during the summer transfer window. This reorganization will result in up to six players leaving the club.

One of them is reportedly legendary right-back Dani Carvajal. The 34-year-old is Alexander-Arnold’s main player in the squad, with the Spaniard having been selected ahead of this weekend’s La Liga opening day game against Elche.
Carvajal’s possible departure could give Alexander-Arnold the opportunity to establish himself as the Bernabéu’s main right-back. A series of regular starts could help him regain the form he enjoyed during his time at Liverpool, which first earned him a move.
Real Madrid’s sale list also reportedly includes defenders David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, left-backs Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, and midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Real Madrid and Alexander-Arnold return to action on Tuesday night when they face Man City in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spanish giants hold a 3-0 lead from last week’s first leg thanks to Federico Valverde’s first-half hat-trick.
Alexander-Arnold started the first leg but was usually replaced by Carvajal with six minutes remaining.
