Max Dauman became the youngest Premier League scorer at the weekend as he helped Arsenal win the title.
The father of Arsenal star Max Dorman has slammed a coach who claimed he was involved in the young player’s development at the club. The 16-year-old winger became the Premier League’s youngest scorer on Saturday as Mikel Arteta’s wide edge helped the Gunners beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday as they moved closer to a first top-flight title in 22 years.
Temisan Williams appeared on talkSPORT with Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor on Monday morning, where he was introduced as “Dowman’s former coach”. Williams spoke about Dauman’s development through Arsenal’s academy and the player’s strengths.
However, Max’s father Robert Dauman expressed anger towards X. He said: “It’s really sad as an attempt at self-promotion to hear a man named Temisan Williams claim to have been part of Max’s journey.

“I previously asked him not to do that, but he still showed up on talkSport this morning…I remember him letting the cones out a few times in training, but that’s about it. We have a lot of great coaches that we’re very grateful to, and he’s certainly not one of them…”
Williams spoke with McCoist and Agbonlahor and waxed lyrical about Dauman. “What Max has achieved is incredible. It’s great for his family, the academy, the club and the fans. He should just enjoy the moment and I know he has.”

“First of all, the scouts have done a great job. I was an assistant coach with the Under-12s and I got to watch Max for two years, so I was just a small part of his journey, but Max always had the super strength of being able to carry the ball. It’s always something he enjoys, it’s something he’s good at, and it’s something we saw in training as well.”
It wasn’t the first time Williams appeared on talkSPORT to praise the Arsenal prodigy. “He (Dauman) was probably one of the biggest secrets in academy football,” he told Hayters in August 2025.
“I knew Max and other people have known Max since 2019, if not before, so no one knew about him, which is understandable, of course, because he was only nine or 10 years old.
“But when I got to Arsenal I was told they had the best quality kid here for his age, but they didn’t coach him in his first year because he was two years younger.
“Max was always ready for a challenge. His mindset was always that he wanted to push himself and you could see that. It also helped him physically and he was able to cope with the challenges mentioned above. So his physical profile allowed him to cope. And of course his super strength, which we are seeing on the world stage now, is his ability to carry the ball with his left foot.”
“That’s always been the case with Max. Usually the super strengths you have from a young age are the things that get you into the first team and keep you there.”
