Everton star Tierno Barry has now opened up about the incident after sharing footage on social media of an alleged attack on his friend following the Toffees’ 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
Tierno Barry has claimed he did not give tickets to Arsenal fans after sharing a video of his friend being allegedly attacked. The Frenchman shared a clip on his social media claiming that people he had invited to the match were being targeted by the away side.
Merseyside Police have launched an investigation into the incident. But Barry has now decided to reveal exactly what happened.
Regarding X, he reaffirmed that the people in the video are just his friends and not Arsenal supporters. He said: “I would like to speak one last time about the incident that occurred after the match. Some of the information circulating does not reflect reality. Contrary to what has been suggested, I have never given tickets to Arsenal supporters.”
“The people who were there to support me have always followed the clubs I’ve played for throughout my career, from Beveren to Basel to Villarreal and now Everton. Yesterday, some of them were wearing Everton shirts with my name on them.

“During the match, they were asked twice by supporters if they were rooting for the other team. They made it clear that no, they were there to support me.
“Furthermore, the people shown in some of the videos are not members of my family. They are relatives of another player in the team. Unfortunately, they encountered a group of supporters who mistakenly thought they were celebrating an Arsenal goal.”
“The stewards who were there witnessed the scene and my friends were insulted. How is that possible? I just want to remind everyone that there is no violence in football, regardless of the circumstances.”
“The investigation is currently underway and I have full confidence in the relevant authorities to establish the facts. Out of respect for this process, I will not be commenting further.”
A Met spokesperson said: “Officers and stewards responded to the incident. No serious injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing and we are working with both clubs to identify those involved. No arrests have been made.”
Everton ended up losing 2-0 to North London. Victor Gokeres gave the hosts the lead in the closing stages, and Max Dauman’s goal in second-half stoppage time secured them a vital three points in the race for the Premier League title.
