‘Uncharted territory for him’ – Cole and Lescott discuss Haaland’s struggling form

He was subdued again at the London Stadium as City struggled to overcome stubborn West Ham and fell further behind in the title race.
“This is uncharted territory for him, numbers like that,” former Chelsea midfielder Cole told TNT Sports. “He hasn’t been that depressed since he was probably about 7 years old.”
Former City defender Joleon Lescott suggested Haaland needs more support from his team-mates to rediscover his best form.
“There’s a lack of cohesion from the players around him,” Lescott said. “I don’t think they understand the type of pass or the right type of cross for Erling Haaland.

“It’s uncharted territory in terms of his current form, but he’s scored 29 goals in 41 games (in all competitions) and that’s what you want for a striker in any position.
“You could say the last 14 games weren’t good, but if it had been the first 14, City wouldn’t be in this position anyway.”
Haaland’s last goal was in a 3-0 win against Fulham in February. He missed City’s 1-0 win over Leeds United through injury, but returned for the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
However, City manager Josep Guardiola insists Haaland will be back on the scoresheet soon.
“We lacked goals and of course we miss him,” Guardiola told TNT Sports after the game against West Ham.
“I always believe it’s a connection and a lot of things create good interactions. But Erling, we need his goals.
“We need to create more. Like (in the first half) he had three chances there. We have to create threats that we didn’t have at times.”
“He will come back.”

‘It’s not over yet’ – Guardiola continues to challenge for title after West Ham draw

“No, it’s not over yet,” he said. “We are not defeated. We will continue.”
“Ultimately we need creativity, but we have struggled this season. We had to be better in the final third and we weren’t able to do that. The same thing has happened in many games this season.”
City next face hosts Real Madrid in the return leg of the Champions League last-16 clash on Tuesday.
