Manchester United could be in for a busy summer transfer window as new updates on their plans are revealed
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to allow five players to leave when the summer transfer window opens. The Red Devils currently continue their quest to qualify for the Champions League after a season without European football.
Michael Carrick was appointed as United’s caretaker manager in January and has continued his strong run of form since then, winning six of his eight games in charge and lifting the club into third place in the Premier League table.
United are currently in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League, especially if England earn five spots in this term’s UEFA coefficient.
A new update has been revealed about the Old Trafford hierarchy’s plans for the summer transfer window, regardless of where United finish in the Premier League this season.

According to The Sun, five players could leave United during the summer as the club looks to raise funds to cover an outstanding £422m transfer fee.
Mason Mount, Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hjølund, Andre Onana and Manuel Ugarte could reportedly leave United on permanent deals this summer.
Hylund and Onana are currently on loan from United this season, and are now likely to leave the Red Devils on permanent deals in the summer.

United have loaned Hojlund to Napoli on a deal that includes an obligation to buy, and the club’s sporting director Giovanni Manna has confirmed they will sign the striker on a permanent deal.
“There is no doubt, Rasmus Hjølund will remain here. If Napoli qualify for the Champions League, we are obliged to sign him from Man United, but despite this situation he is in our plans,” Mana said.
Onana is on loan at Trabzonspor, but there are doubts whether the Turkish club will sign the goalkeeper permanently.
Trabzonspor vice president Zeiyat Kavkas provided an update on Onana’s future earlier this month.
“Our president honestly reported to the community in line with the realities of Trabzonspor, as the acquisition price of Andre Onana from Manchester United is in the range of 45-50 million euros,” Kavkas told Gnebacus.
“I don’t think this information has affected Onana at all because he wants to continue working for a club in Europe, even if it’s not in England.”
“His family thinks the same way. The president also wanted to explain the reality of Trabzonspor. But when the situation changes, the situation changes.”
Zirksee has struggled to make competitive appearances for United since Ruben Amorim was appointed as the club’s head coach in November 2024, and that trend has continued since Carrick was appointed as the club’s interim head coach.
Mount has featured regularly for United this season, but has missed the last six Premier League games due to injury.
Ugarte, meanwhile, has started just seven top-flight games for United this season and faces an uncertain future.
