Igor Tudor’s immediate future at Tottenham appears set, but Spurs are preparing for the worst-case scenario and have identified Sean Dyche as a target.
Sean Dyche has emerged as a shock candidate to become Tottenham’s next manager, but Spurs are sticking with manager Igor Tudor for now. Croatian national team coach Tudor has lost all of his four games in charge, and Tottenham remain one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Spurs’ Champions League campaign has done little to improve their precarious situation domestically, with their round of 16 first leg defeat 5-2 away to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. They play Liverpool on Sunday at 4.30pm and could be in the bottom three by then.
Tudor is expected to be in the dugout at Anfield, but a fifth consecutive defeat could spell the end of the former Juventus manager’s career in north London in less than a month. The Sun reported that Dyche would be a likely candidate if the Spurs pulled the trigger.
The former Everton, Burnley and Watford manager will take over after being sacked by Nottingham Forest a month ago. Dyche is said to be aware of interest from Tottenham and would be his second provisional appointment this year.

Appearing on The Football Boardroom podcast last week, Dyche revealed he has received offers from “top-level” clubs. “I know who I am, and if you just shift your mind from this moment on and do what you’re doing, you can be very happy,” the 54-year-old explained.
“You know, I did what I was supposed to do, so if I did more, great. If I didn’t do more, I wouldn’t cry about it. I don’t, but you’re left with this moment or that moment.”
“Okay, yeah, I don’t care about that. I’ve done my best in my position and always have, so that’s fine. So if I choose to leave, that’s my choice. It’s not because no one will hire me.”

“Of course it’s possible. By the way, I already have an offer, so that’s fine. It’s a top-level (offer), but the important thing is: ‘Do I need it? Do I want to make a decision? Not at the moment.'”
But Tottenham could force his hand despite the crisis that saw them sack manager Thomas Frank in February. For the first time in their 143-year history, they have lost six consecutive games across all competitions.
Spurs, who faced Liverpool, will need a miracle when they host Atletico in Wednesday’s second leg. Next Sunday, the relegation six-point side play Forest at home.
