Manchester United decided to let Casemiro go this summer but have been urged to reconsider as the Brazilian continues to perform under Michael Carrick.
Manchester United have been urged to change their minds on Casemiro and keep the Brazilian beyond this season, with club icon Brian Robson adamant that Casemiro remains a “top player” who can “contribute a bit more to the team”.
It was recently announced that Casemiro will be leaving Old Trafford after four seasons. The midfielder was a £70m transfer when he joined under Erik ten Hag and endured a mixed spell at Old Trafford, making an early impact but faltering since then. But he has found a new lease on life after confirming his plans to leave the club this season.
The former Real Madrid star has won back-to-back Champions League titles and, at 34, is still more than capable of getting the job done. And Robson is adamant United should reconsider things as Casemiro still has a big offer, even if the uncertainty surrounding the club’s head coaching position could cause problems on that front.
The Red Devils legend told Boyle Sports: “I would recommend Casemiro to stay. He’s had a really good season this year. He’s a top player. He’s got a great football brain. He’s really good with the ball. He heads the ball well and when he gets into a tackle he takes it seriously. He heads the ball well and when he gets into a tackle he takes it seriously.”

“You can’t stay at Real Madrid for as many years as he did and win the Champions League title unless you’re an absolute top player and people understand what you’re really good at. So next season he’ll definitely give us a little bit more of his experience. He was also great in Europe last year.”
The club aims to add at least one midfielder to the squad this summer. Although seen as a priority position, Casemiro was a regular player from the time Carrick took over until the end of the season, and his experience is a huge asset. So it’s no wonder that the man at the helm was so complimentary.
“Well, I have to say Case has been great on and off the pitch since I came in,” Carrick said recently. Experience can be a great thing when used correctly. And again, I think as time goes on, being a senior player here, you have a responsibility to set an example and help the younger players, help the rest of the players and pass on your experience in a positive way.
“He has been a top in many respects since I started and has been a lot of fun to work with. I look forward to continuing to work with him over the next few months.”
