Manager Malang Sarr accused Mauricio Pochettino of “lying” when he replied, “Who?” It comes after the defender was featured by reporters during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Sarr, 27, left the Blues in the summer of 2024 to join RC Lens. He joined Chelsea as a highly rated prospect and was one of a number of young players to spend time away from the club on loan.
Pochettino was in charge of Chelsea in 2023-24, but appeared confused about who Sarr was when he was asked about the central defender and Jamie Cummings in August 2023.
But Sarr has now hit back, saying Pochettino knows exactly who he is and even greeted him just days after taking over as Chelsea manager.

“When he said that, I felt like ruining everything because I know what’s going on behind my back. He’s doing it on purpose. I know he knows me. There’s no way he doesn’t know me. But it’s okay. There’s no way he doesn’t know me. But it’s okay,” Sir said on YouTube channel Campo.
“He watches football, he’s a coach and he knows all the players. But beyond that, he was already in the Premier League with Tottenham. I mean the year before he hadn’t watched any Tottenham games. I played against them.”
Sarr also revealed that Pochettino, who is currently the head coach of the United States national team, even tried to sign him to Tottenham in 2019, and claimed he even held talks with his agent in London.
Pochettino stayed at Chelsea for just one season.
He added: “To go further, in 2019 he bought me an agent in London to try to convince me to sign for Tottenham.
“He returned prematurely from his loan spell in Monaco to undergo surgery. When he arrived at Chelsea, he gave me a tour while everyone was on holiday.
“He called his Spanish-speaking assistant and said: ‘Look who’s here, we tried to sign him at Tottenham and now he’s working with us here!'”
