Jurgen Klopp continues to work as Red Bull’s global head of football, but he continues to be linked with a return to club management at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp’s agent says the former Liverpool manager is “very happy” with his current role at Red Bull and insists his relationship with Real Madrid is “just a rumor at the moment”. Klopp will leave Liverpool in 2024 to work as Red Bull’s global head of football, but remains linked to the top job.
The German emerged as Real Madrid’s favorite candidate when they sacked Xabi Alonso in January. Real replaced Alonso with former teammate Alvaro Arbeloa, but that hasn’t stopped speculation.
However, there has also been unfounded speculation that Klopp could return to Liverpool to replace Arne Slott amid a difficult season on Merseyside. Reports from Spain even suggest that Atletico Madrid may hire Klopp to replace Diego Simeone, who is in the final year of his contract.
The speculation is so great that Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, feels it necessary to publicly deny it. “Manager Jurgen Klopp is very happy with his current role at Red Bull. Anything said about negotiations with the Real Madrid manager is just a rumor for now,” he said in a statement to 365Scores, relayed by Avola news agency.

Kosicke also unequivocally denied reports that Klopp could be appointed as national team manager ahead of the World Cup. “There is no need to answer questions about mere rumors,” Kosicke added. “We have not heard from anyone at this time.”
Klopp has spoken about how he is enjoying his more relaxed role at Red Bull, overseeing a multi-club structure with RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls and Paris FC.
“As a human being, I’m in a place where I feel completely safe where I am. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” Klopp told AFP in January. “If Real Madrid were interested, I wouldn’t sit up and get excited. If they were, that’s the media.
“Do I want to coach again? I can say no at this point, but I can’t say absolutely, never, ever. I don’t think I’ll change my mind, but I don’t know.”
Speaking to The Athletic in September, Klopp hinted that he could use his time at Red Bull as a springboard for a return to management. “I know I can coach a football team, but that doesn’t mean I have to coach until my last day,” he said.
“I wanted to do something different. Red Bull gave me the opportunity to find step by step the role that we have defined together. As a human being, I am in a place where I feel completely at ease where I am. I would not want to be anywhere else.”
“I got to meet a lot of people I didn’t know before. I went to a lot of business meetings and learned words I didn’t know before. It was a lot of fun. I gained five years of experience in one year.”
