Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has been sent off during the Reds’ FA Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arne Slott and has given an update on his fitness.
Arn Slott appears to have suffered an injury against Wolves, but Alexis Mac Allister believes he will be OK. The Liverpool midfielder was sent off in the second half of his side’s 3-1 FA Cup win at Molineux.
He appeared to have injured his knee and subsequently underwent lengthy treatment by Liverpool’s medical team. Mac Allister was eventually replaced by Trey Nyoni.
Despite this, Slott isn’t too worried about long-term issues. Asked in the post-match press conference if Mac Allister was okay, the Liverpool manager replied: “I think so, yes.”
The news will be welcome for Liverpool, given how important the Argentine has been this season. He has played in 41 official games so far and has scored 5 goals.
Liverpool already have a number of key players on the sidelines, with Wataru Endo, Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley and Giovani Leoni all suffering long-term problems.

The Reds have a busy schedule ahead of them, with a Champions League double-header against Galatasaray and a Premier League clash with struggling Tottenham Hotspur.
They easily defeated Wolves and will be in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Coach Slott added of his team’s performance: “Obviously, if you look at the result, it’s a perfect reaction, but all the stats are exactly the same as three days ago. I think they had 0.44xG and I think they scored tonight. The only chance they had, they scored one goal. They scored one goal.”
“The positive thing is that three days ago they only had one chance and they scored two goals. We struggled to create many chances from a lot of possession in the first 50 minutes. But after scoring a goal that wasn’t a big chance, Lobo’s shot opened things up a little bit for us, even though it wasn’t a big chance.”
“Again, we conceded a goal in extra time, so it’s a similar feeling. We might have been a little faster left-to-right in the first 50 minutes, so there wasn’t much of a difference. It also had to do with personnel and different types of players that were in certain positions. But overall, there were a lot of similarities between this game and three days ago (and) a lot of possession.”
“But getting back to the last part of your question, I’m really happy to have some players back. I don’t think I’ve ever complained about player availability, but if you have to play 12, 13 or 14 players every three days, it’s a non-starter. I think it’s natural that sometimes the individual performance is not at his level that we are used to because he always has to play so many games. ”
