Fabian Hürzeler criticized Arsenal’s tactics after Arsenal lost 1-0 to the Gunners, but the Brighton manager also made his feelings clear during the match.
Footage has emerged of Fabian Hürzeler telling Arsenal star Piero Hincapie to “fuck playing football” during the Gunners’ 1-0 away win at Brighton. Seagulls manager Hürzeler made headlines after the match with his extraordinary attack on Arsenal’s style of play.
“Only one team tried to play soccer today,” the German fumed. “I’ll never be the kind of coach who tries to win that way.”
But it wasn’t immediately after the loss that Hürzeler made his feelings clear. When Arsenal were awarded a throw-in, the Brighton manager handed the ball to Hinkpie and appeared to say: “Soccer is fucked.” Hincapie responded by putting a finger to his lips.
Arsenal took an early lead through Bukayo Saka and used their dark arts to win. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, with title rivals Manchester City suffering a dramatic 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest.

Although Arsenal earned the point, their performance received little praise. “Let me ask you a question: Have you ever seen a goalkeeper fall down three times in a Premier League game?” Hürzeler asked in the post-match press conference.
“Of course, in the end every team will manage and waste time, but I think there should be a limit and that limit needs to be set by the Premier League. The limit has to be set by the referees. At the moment they are just doing what they want to do.”
Arteta responded: “What a surprise. If you go back to previous games, you always find a lot of comments like this.

“I love the players. That’s the highlight. I love the players. We love the players. I love the way we compete.”
Arsenal have been criticized for their “ugly” approach to the game as they seek to end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title. “Every time they talk about our players, I think they love our players. They are the most loved players in this country,” Arteta said sarcastically.
The Gunners will take a break from the Premier League before heading to Mansfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday. Arsenal will then face Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
