Arsenal relied on dark acts to beat Brighton 1-0 on Wednesday and move seven points clear of Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Laura Woods made a live radio call to hit back at Alan Pardew’s “disrespectful” comments about Arsenal. The former Premier League manager claimed during Arsenal’s narrow 1-0 away win against Brighton that if Arsenal go on to win the title because of their style of play, he will “get an asterisk” next to his name.
Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to utilize set-pieces and gamesmanship. Criticism reached new heights after Wednesday’s game, with Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler furious: “There was only one team that tried to play football.”
Hürzeler also slammed Arteta, who accused him of wasting Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s time and gave a cruel three-word reply, adding: “I will never be the kind of manager who tries to win in that way.” Commenting on talkSPORT, Pardew also took aim at the Gunners’ performance.
The former Crystal Palace and Newcastle manager claimed: “There will be an asterisk next to their names, because when you actually see them in this kind of performance, you just say it’s just a perfunctory display.”

“It’s a professional, functional display. It’s good, it’s powerful, it’s powerful. But there’s nothing pretty about it. That’s the truth.”
Woods, an Arsenal fan, didn’t like it and called talkSPORT late on Wednesday night. The TV host went on a rant about Perdue’s comments and defended her team.
“You know what, Alan? I love you, but that’s the rudest thing I’ve ever heard,” Woods began. “How can you say that? Because we like to take free kicks, set pieces and corners? I don’t understand that thought process.”

Furthermore, she added: “It’s a mental thing… If Arsenal win the league, none of us fans, I don’t care how they do, I don’t care if you guys don’t enjoy watching us, why should I care if we’re entertaining or not?
“I love it. No matter what happens tonight, I’m going to put my foot up and say, no matter what happens, I’m going to feel so much better than[host]Jamie O’Hara!”
“When we were playing great football, everyone was saying, ‘They’re playing great football, but they can’t win games.’ And now we’re winning games in a different way, in a different way, and the game is evolving and you’re getting bored.”
