A 13-second video of Tottenham star Guglielmo Vicario’s awful free-kick against Fulham on Sunday has been shared and deleted by the Premier League’s official account.
The Premier League has removed a video publicly mocking Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after a backlash on social media and complaints from clubs. Spurs’ miserable form continued with a 2-1 loss to Fulham on Sunday. And Spurs fans weren’t amused to see the league’s official account condemning it.
Igor Tudor’s side found themselves 2-0 down inside 34 minutes at Craven Cottage thanks to goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi. They got one point back in the second half with Richarlison’s header, but were unable to convert the equalizer.
With four consecutive defeats in the Premier League, they are now winless in 10 league games and remain four points out of the relegation zone. Tudor was furious that officials failed to hold Raul Jimenez for shoving Radu Dragusin in the build-up to Wilson’s opener, and fans taking to social media on Sunday night weren’t feeling any better.
X’s official Premier League account, which has 44.9 million followers, posted a 13-second clip of the match in which Vicario takes a long free-kick directly towards Fulham’s goal kick.

The caption read, “How did this play come together…”, followed by “Interesting free kick from Vicario” with a smiling face emoji, followed by “Oops” and another smiling face emoji.
It was posted at 10:55 p.m. Sunday and had been viewed nearly 400,000 times by Monday morning. However, it was removed by 9am on Monday morning after receiving backlash. Mirror Football understands that Tottenham officials were unhappy with the tone of the post and have lodged a complaint with the Premier League.
That sentiment was reflected in many responses. Before the post was deleted, one person replied, “I’m not even a Spurs fan, so this seems…mean? I think it’s like the other team’s account is being sarcastic. I 100% understand and appreciate it, but the official PL account? Oh no.”

“Official PL account… good job guys,” another person replied. “Being made fun of by PL’s official account is insane,” another person wrote. “Wouldn’t it be better to be neutral and unbiased?” asked a third person.
Another concluded: “I don’t think it’s appropriate for the Premier League to try to be a joke account. It should be more than that.” Many also pointed out that there are plenty of unfortunate moments in the Premier League to mock, and many were angry that Wilson’s goal could not be ruled out.
Tudor was furious in the postgame press conference. “Of course I think it’s a foul. 99 out of 100 people would say it’s a foul because it’s so obvious,” he said, before referring to the decision to have a Spurs goal ruled out for Randal Kolo Muani’s push on Gabriel against Arsenal last weekend.

“Sometimes the standards are inconsistent. The same thing happened last week against Arsenal. In the previous situation, we conceded a goal and they didn’t get a single foul after conceding. It’s just unbelievable.”
“Sometimes they don’t understand that even a small contact is enough. If you’re going to have an advantage in scoring a goal, you have to cancel this out and finish it off. When he’s soft, no, when he pushes with his hands and doesn’t see the ball, that’s not what a normal duel is about. Sometimes it’s easy to get an advantage.”
“So it would be foolish not to give him a foul, because the consequences would be too big. It’s not just a small foul in the middle of the pitch, it’s a goal after that.”
