The match between Nottingham Forest and Fenerbahce was called off almost immediately as ground staff were called in.
The match between Nottingham Forest and Fenerbahce was abandoned within the first minute after a smoke bomb was thrown onto the pitch by a visiting fan. When the match was stopped, Fenerbahce captain Mert Jandas immediately went to tell the fans to stop.
The incident delayed the match for more than two minutes and ground staff had to be called in to remove smoke bombs from the pitch. TNT Sports co-commentator Lucy Ward said at the time of the incident: “The ground staff are also furious.”
Yandas and some of his Fenerbahce teammates, who faced their own fans, helped clear the pitch during the delay. UEFA rules prohibit smoke bombs, fireworks, smoke grenades and all other pyrotechnics inside Europa League stadiums, which could have an impact on clubs and fans.
Immediately after the restart, Forest’s Ryan Yates appeared to have dislocated his finger and required treatment on the pitch. The Reds went into the second leg with a comfortable lead after winning 3-0 in Istanbul last week. Murillo, Igor Jesus and Morgan Gibbs-White scored for Vitor Pereira’s side.

But it was the visitors who took the lead in the 22nd minute at the City Ground through Kerem Akturkoglu. Elliott Anderson then came close to scoring the tying goal.
The visitors doubled their lead after the first half when Akturkoglu was brought down in the box by Jair Cunha, but the winger made no mistake from the spot.
Callum Hudson-Odoi then ended Fenerbahce’s hopes of qualifying and Forest pulled one back in the 68th minute. The away team pushed further, but were unable to score any additional points.
Although Forest lost 2-1 at home, they won 4-2 on aggregate and booked their place in the knockout stages.
Pereira picked up his second win in Europe after an ideal first match in Turkey, and the team will now wait to find an opponent in Friday’s draw.
