Chelsea and West Ham were charged with inappropriate conduct after a brawl at Stamford Bridge earlier this season and were fined a combined total of more than £600,000.
The FA has fined Chelsea and West Ham for “inappropriate conduct” during last month’s tense Premier League clash.
The Blues won 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, but a huge brawl in stoppage time stole the headlines. Joao Pedro’s reaction to Adama Traore’s push on Marc Cucurella sparked a confrontation that led to an ugly scene involving players from both teams.
West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo was ultimately shown a red card by referee Anthony Taylor after a lengthy VAR review for grabbing Joao Pedro by the neck during a scuffle.
Asked about Todibo’s sending off, Hammers manager Nuno Espirito Santo claimed he did not understand why he was given only two cards. “It’s strange that there’s so much confusion and we only get one yellow card and one red card. We need to check again.”
An official statement regarding the sanction read: “The independent regulatory commission has fined Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC for a large-scale collision during a Premier League match on Saturday 31 January 2026.”

“It is alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure that its players were not behaving in an inappropriate and/or provocative and/or violent manner before or after the 95th minute. It is also alleged that West Ham United FC failed to ensure that its players were not behaving in an inappropriate and/or provocative and/or violent manner at this time.”
“Both clubs have subsequently admitted the charges. Following a hearing, the Regulatory Commission fined Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC of £325,000 and £300,000 respectively. The written reasons for these decisions are set out below.”
That frustration could be attributed to West Ham losing a two-goal lead and returning to London empty-handed, which did little to ease relegation fears. West Ham led 2-0 by half-time thanks to efforts from Jarrod Bowen and Crisencio Somerville.
However, Chelsea pulled off a stunning comeback with goals from Joao Pedro and Cucurella to level the score. Their winner came in the second half thanks to Enzo Fernandes.
