Despite hiring Eric Ramsey only last month, West Brom showed the 34-year-old the door after failing to win a game as the Baggies languished in the bottom three.
West Brom sacked Eric Ramsey after 44 days and nine games, leaving the Baggies without a win and falling into the relegation zone.
The 34-year-old arrived from MLS side Minnesota United and was offered the job in January, but the former Manchester United coach failed to make the impact he was expected to have as Ryan Mason’s successor. This leaves West Brom searching for a fourth manager in 14 months.
Ramsey joined the Hawthorns when they were 18th in the table, but has since seen them fall deeper into the table, with Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Charlton leaving the Hawthorns in 21st place, just one point above the relegation spot.
A club statement read: “West Bromwich Albion have parted ways with men’s first team head coach Eric Ramsey. Assistant head coach Dennis Lawrence has also left the Hawthorns. First team coach James Morrison will oversee first team operations on an interim basis.”
Ramsey’s short but dominant spell in the Midlands began with a 3-2 defeat at Middlesbrough, while he was in charge in a 5-0 thrashing of Norwich. It was the club’s biggest home defeat in the club’s history outside of the top league.

Ramsay gave a defiant response during what turned out to be his final press conference. He told BBC WM: “Questions about my job and my future are ones that I will never be able to answer, and I will never be able to answer even if I try. All I can do is take the day and do what I can, and at night I can put my head on the pillow and feel like I’ve turned over every stone. That’s not to say I’m innocent. I only feel like I was able to control what I can control.”
Ramsey’s short spell as manager included an FA Cup defeat to Norwich, while a tough defeat to fellow strugglers Portsmouth, before Saturday’s loss to league leaders Coventry.
West Brom have been struggling to find a head coach since Carlos Corberan left for Valencia. Despite his impressive performances, the Spaniard left the club to be managed by Tony Mowbray, who was sacked before the end of last season. They bet on Mason, but that didn’t work either.
The Baggies have been a Premier League club for over 10 years, having first entered the league in 2002. The 2020/21 season saw them have a lonely year in the top flight, but they were relegated and have remained in the Championship ever since. It has been 33 years since they last played in the third tier of English football.
