England star Ruben Loftus-Cheek suffered a serious injury while playing for AC Milan against Parma at the weekend and was carried away on a stretcher with a neck brace.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek will undergo surgery today to recover from a horrific head injury. The England midfielder suffered a serious injury during the match against AC Milan at the weekend.
He collided violently with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corbi, and medical staff rushed to his aid as blood poured from his face. Loftus-Cheek, 30, was immediately put in a neck brace and stretchered off the pitch.
DAZN reported that the most serious damage was to the teeth and the midfielder was rushed to hospital. AC Milan have not yet released any official updates, but according to Sky, Loftus-Cheek will undergo surgery on a fractured jaw.
The injury is expected to keep him sidelined for several months. Loftus-Cheek joined AC Milan from Chelsea in 2023 after coming through the Blues’ youth organization.

He played 94 games for the Italian giants, scoring 13 goals. Parma coach Carlos Cuesta paid tribute to the midfielder in his post-match evaluation.
“Firstly I want to talk about Loftus-Cheek. I hope he’s OK and our thoughts are with him.”
Milan will be hoping to be able to call on Loftus-Cheek’s services again soon. Their bid for the Serie A title has stalled under manager Max Allegri, with Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Parma leaving them second, already 10 points behind bitter rivals Inter.

Loftus-Cheek said of Allegri earlier this season: “He’s getting to know the other players personally and building relationships with everyone, and you can see how he works. When he works, he’s very enthusiastic.”
“He’s won so many things in the past, so many trophies, so I can’t help but respect what he’s achieved and I have a lot of respect for the manager.”
The midfielder also highlighted his desire to return to England’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, but given the injury blow, those hopes now appear to be up in the air.
“It’s a possibility, but it’s not in my mind. A good season could help us get there, but we have to take it game by game. We’re training relentlessly every day and making sure we perform. If everything goes well, it will take care of itself.”
AC Milan return to action this weekend when they welcome the struggling Cremonese player to the San Siro.
