Arsenal bounced back from a draw with Wolves to beat Tottenham away to claim a clear victory in the Premier League title race.
Mikel Arteta insisted Arsenal showed “what they’re made of” after admitting he felt “embarrassed” by their blunder against Wolves.
Gunners boss Arteta said he was “proud” of his players after Eberechi Eze and Victor Gokeres scored twice to push Tottenham into serious relegation danger.
Arsenal also overcame a two-goal lead against bottom-placed Wolves last Wednesday to draw 2-2, leaving them five points behind Manchester City, giving life to Arsenal’s title challenge.
“I feel like we’ve shown what we’re made of, but we have to show it again and again,” Arteta said.
“I couldn’t be more proud and happy with what I saw there and considering what happened against Wolves and the way we conceded two points with the last kick of the game, it was tough.

“But that’s the beauty of this game. When you look back at the game, you can’t explain how that game was tied. No matter what angle you look at it, you said it couldn’t happen, but it happened. And at some point you have to get angry, upset, embarrassed and beat yourself up.”
“And you ask, ‘How do you take that as a turning point and use it to better yourself?’ That was the focus and the intention, but you still have to execute it on the pitch. And I thought what we did from start to finish of the game was great.”
Arteta also praised his goal heroics, saying Gokeres’ overall performance was arguably his best since his £64m summer move. His two goals took him to 15 goals in all competitions.
“For me, the best and most complete player, especially when we need him the most and when we need it, big players and big clubs have to step up,” Arteta said.

“Eberechi was really good. He was even upset with me because the other day I didn’t play with him from the beginning and some of the decisions I made. And I now have to figure out how to get the most out of him.”
Tottenham interim manager Igor Tudor didn’t pull punches in his assessment. He said: “I’m very sad, I’m very angry and everything, but in a way it’s also good to understand where our goals are.
“What are the goals of this club? What are the goals of this team? What are the goals of this coach, this player, this staff?”
“Be serious. Seriously, not just a group of 20 players. The medicine is to look in the mirror. Each of us looks in the mirror and makes a serious effort and begins to change our habits. Working hard is the only way.”
