Sesco’s goalscoring form continued, with him scoring five goals in the Premier League in 2026. No player in the league this calendar year has scored more non-penalty goals than the Slovenian.
“It was a great finish. It was a relentless finish,” Carrick said. “I liked the way he scored with real confidence. He set it up with some great play from (Mateus) Cunha and (Brian) Mbeumo and we were in a dangerous situation during the break. I’m glad Ben came on and made a difference.”
Much like in Monday’s game, most of his impact came after coming off the bench and providing a spark.
His last three goals have all come from Carrick, and the 22-year-old said he has benefited from it because he “believes in me”.

‘That’s what he does’ – Carrick praises Manchester United savior Sesco for late equaliser, calling him ‘unbelievable’

“[Sesco’s teammates]know what they’re going to get when I go into the game. Of course it’s up to me to achieve that,” he told Sky Sports.
“For me, it’s important to use my time wisely when I’m on the pitch. I’m trying to help the team, because that’s why I’m here. It doesn’t matter if I only have five minutes or 90 minutes. I just need to show that I can deliver as much as possible.”
Perhaps even more impressive than scoring that crucial goal was United’s resilience in the face of constant pressure from Everton’s aerial attack.
Everton had 10 corners, many of which had the majority of their players crowding around United goalkeeper Senne Lamence, trying to cause him to make a mistake.
But Lamence and his defense rose to the task and earned a clean sheet in the win. It was United’s first away clean sheet in the Premier League since March last year.
Ramens told Sky Sports the victory was built on “hard work” and a “cohesive defence”.
“We know we didn’t play our best, especially in the first half, but it was difficult, but we have players who can make a difference if we work together and don’t concede goals,” said the Belgian goalkeeper. “We had one flash and one counter, but if we can maintain zero, we can win this tough away match.
“They are a strong physical team and their defense is very big, so we knew it would be difficult on set pieces. That (corner defense) is my strength, so I’m glad I was able to help the team today. I’m really happy to win today and I was important in that.”
