Chelsea’s Kendry Paes is currently in the middle of his second loan move from the Blues this season, but the youngster appears to have suffered a serious injury.
Chelsea prodigy Kendry Paes has screamed after sustaining what appeared to be a serious injury in his latest appearance for River Plate. The 18-year-old made just his second appearance for the Argentine team over the weekend after joining them on loan in January.
But now it looks like he will be out for a long time. The teenager suffered an awkward fall against Velez Sarsfield just 20 minutes after being introduced.
He immediately cried out to River Plate’s medical staff for treatment. After being alerted by club doctors, Paes attempted to continue playing but was ultimately forced to be substituted.
South American reports said the boy will undergo tests on Monday to determine the severity of his injuries. Paes will be hoping he has avoided a serious injury after a frustrating season.
He joined Chelsea from Independiente last summer and was immediately loaned to sister team Strasbourg, where he played under current Blues manager Liam Rosenior. He appeared in 21 games and scored one goal before being recalled.

Regardless of his fitness, big things are expected of Paes. Ecuadorian coach Sebastian Beccasese said of the youngster earlier this season: “Kendry was being questioned hard about things other than football.
“Here we protected him and bet on him. At that time he was 17 years old and could make mistakes. We wanted him to go to Europe early. Now he looks better and has grown a lot. Every time he comes, he is the player who runs the most and the player who sacrifices the most.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has also been praised. “They talk about him a lot, but so does the whole staff, we see him on video all the time and we want him here now.

“When he came, they wanted him to stay because we all know he’s great and if he does his part and gives himself every day in training and outside, he’s going to be absolutely great.”
The midfielder added: “He’s a great (top player)! To tell you the truth, I sometimes watch Independiente games and it’s nice to be able to see their talent in Ecuador, because I know we have very good young people.”
“I’m very happy with him and everything he’s doing. All I can say is he’s staying on the right track and doing things really well. I think he’s going to go really far because his talent is incredible.”
