Arsenal had a golden opportunity to extend their lead over Manchester City in the Premier League summit clash, but were unable to beat struggling Wolves at Molineux.
Arsenal are now top of the Premier League for the first time with a two-goal lead over a team in the relegation zone after surrendering late on against Wolves at Molineux.
Mikel Arteta’s side achieved a good result with two goals against their rivals, who sit at the bottom of the league with just one win all season. However, goals from Hugo Bueno and Tom Edsi in stoppage time shocked Arsenal against Molineux.
It was Arsenal’s first major failure against their struggling hosts in the Premier League, and no other league leader has dropped points against a team in the relegation zone by two points.
However, the worst news for Arsenal is that this result left their title race in jeopardy, with Manchester City able to close the gap between the two teams to just two points with victory at the weekend.

City have led Arsenal to the title in two of the past three seasons and are poised to step up a gear in the second half of the season.
And with the pressure on Arsenal increasing week on week, Arteta was left frustrated as he watched his side squander a golden chance to extend their advantage over City.
Speaking to Match of the Day after Wednesday night’s game, Arteta said: “It’s incredibly disappointing to concede two points. I think we have to blame ourselves and give Wolves credit. But what we did in the second half was far from the standard we have to play to win games in the Premier League.”
“There were certain things, fundamental things, that we were very far from our level today. When you don’t perform, you can be punished and we were punished. When you’re at the top, that can happen, so we have to accept the hit.”
“There are some fundamentals that we need to do, and we did them one after the other, which was very poor. Then you can’t dominate or control the game.”
