Isak has made just 16 appearances for the Reds since his £125m summer move – the richest signing in Liverpool’s history – but is expected to play a role towards the end of the season.
“The next step is working with the ball, which is what every player likes the most, and the next step after that is getting into the group and it will take some time before they are ready to play.
“He won’t be back in the group until around the end of March or early April, which doesn’t mean he’ll be ready to play, let alone start a match.
“But I’m glad that his rehabilitation has gone well and that’s a compliment to him and our medical staff.

“Everyone knows that the moment he steps on the pitch is less than three months away, but the final stages of his rehabilitation could make a difference.”
Slott also provided an update on Jeremy Frimpong, who is sidelined with a hamstring problem, suggesting the defender could return in time for West Ham’s visit to Anfield next weekend.
Slott: Football ‘must do more’ against racism
Real’s 1-0 win in the Champions League play-off first leg against Benfica on Tuesday was overshadowed by Vinicius accusing him of hurling racist slurs at Prestiani.
The claims have been denied by the Portuguese club, players and manager Jose Mourinho. UEFA confirmed it was reviewing the incident, which saw the match suspended for 10 minutes under the governing body’s anti-racism rules.
“In general, we can never do enough to prevent this (racism in football) from happening again. We can always do more,” Slott said.

“We, as a football community, have to try to do more than what society is doing. By the way, it may not be that difficult. The protocols were followed at the match. That’s the first step.”
“I hope the players will act the same way. We will deal with it immediately and the referees will act the same way.”
Ahead of the game against Forest, Slott is hoping for a different tactical approach under new head coach Vitor Pereira, in contrast to the November encounter, when Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat at Anfield under Sean Dyche.

“Only tonight will we know if the new manager will make any personnel changes,” Slott said, referring to Forest’s first game under Pereira.
“The good thing is they played that game and the manager was in the Premier League last season.”
The Dutchman also highlighted Liverpool’s recent improvement, with the team currently sitting sixth in the Premier League with 42 points from 26 games.
“We have improved compared to three or four months ago. We are in a much better situation than we were a few months ago,” the 47-year-old added.
“There are other reasons, but the two simplest are how fit we are and our set-pieces are much better at the moment.”
